Overview: Technology is evolving at a rapid pace, and it can be challenging for educators, therapists and parents to stay apprised of the latest offerings and trends. This webinar will provide you with information on new and innovative technologies that can be used by individuals with Autism in the classroom and at home. This course will be led by an educator who is also the parent of a child with Autism. The presentation will include information regarding:
- Technologies that assist individuals with communication, organization, instruction, prompting, and staying focused
- Current device apps and their uses
- Home automation technologies and how they benefit individuals with Autism
At the end of the presentation, participants will have a better understanding of these technologies and how they can be implemented.
Presenter: Christian Karter, M.A. is the Educational Technology Specialist at Monarch Center for Autism, a division of Bellefaire JCB, in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He holds a Master's degree in Community Counseling and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, both from John Carroll University. He has worked at Monarch Center for Autism for thirteen years, as an Associate Teacher in the classroom and in his present role. His chief responsibilities include iPad deployment, Monarch's PAIRS Data System management, and introduction of new technologies into the classrooms.
