Throughout this free webinar, participants will be immersed in concepts, tools, and techniques that successfully teach emotional regulation to autistic students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Attendees will walk away with a thorough understanding and toolkit of methods that can be applied in both school and home settings. Agenda items will include:
- Review traditional methods of teaching emotions and why they tend to be ineffective for autistic students.
- Define key terms (e.g., sensory processing, sensory integration, regulation, interoceptive awareness).
- Learn how to utilize two approaches that effectively teach autistic students how to identify emotions during times of distress and apply related coping strategies.
- Evaluate numerous case studies that demonstrate the success of these approaches.
- Time will be provided for question and answer.
